My wife had been suggesting that I try out Seven for a while, and finally in January 2018 that annual New Year's buzz got to me. I started doing one Seven workout each morning and by February it became a daily habit. I haven’t missed a day since.
For starters it was a free app to get me going, but it was the flexibility and the daily reminder that started to form a habit.
People argue over how many days it takes to form a habit, some say 30, some 100 some more. I definitely have a Seven habit now!
How do 7 minute workouts make a difference? Discover the science behind Seven.
I work out with Seven a lot. It’s my main form of exercise so now I average just over 9 workouts a day over the full period.
I have always liked sport, but busy schedules can make that really tricky to fit in and I’ve never been a gym-goer. Seven made it easy, simply weaving workouts seamlessly into my week.
Where to start? I have lost over 20 lbs, dropped 2 inches off the waistline, dealt with some persistent back ache and generally feel much better.
To begin with I needed to lose weight, I knew that because my doctor had gently suggested I was not doing enough exercise.
What I love now is the daily routine. I start with my first workout at around 6:20am, and also use the workouts as a break to clear my head during the working day. A stretch before bed is always good too!

It has varied over time. Among others, the 7 Month Challenge keeps me motivated, as well as the Achievements you can earn in the app. I’m currently looking to reach the 50 month target.
In terms of workouts, my favourites have switched between the Full Body, Arms and Functional Novice.
I have made a few of my own Custom Workouts – even one to use on long haul flights (though you can get some strange looks from other passengers)!
You name a place, I’ve worked out there. I’ve worked out on planes, sleeper trains, hotels, even the channel tunnel train, overlooking the alps, on a beach and in gyms!
At the end of the day, my favourite place is probably at home with good space and something interesting to listen to.
I went for a wet walk on holiday last year, my phone got flooded and died completely. There was lots of stuff on there but (and I am being completely honest here) making sure that I was back online before I missed a day of my Sevens was my number one priority!
Now, I have written this, I think a full body stretch is in order…!
